Lead Facilitators and Facilitators and Coaches for in-person team sessions at a federal agency's offices across six western states. Contract work, paid by the hour per session, contingent on contract award.

About the work

Advent Business Company is building the facilitator team for a federal agency's leadership development program. The agency asks for in-person team and culture sessions for its intact operational and leadership teams, each team between 7 and 30 people.

We are filling two positions with two people each: Lead Facilitator, and Facilitator and Coach. One posting covers both. Tell us on the form which one fits you.

A session is one or two consecutive days on site, up to ten sessions a year, with two or three one-hour webinars a year. Sessions take place at the agency's offices in Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming and California. Preparation and follow-up coaching are done remotely. Travel is paid separately under the Federal Travel Regulation.

The agreement runs three years. The positions are with the prime contractor on the bid and are contingent on contract award.

Lead Facilitator (two positions)

  • Hold the discovery call with the team's manager and write the session agenda and exercises, delivered five business days before the session.
  • Lead the one or two days on site.
  • Write the post-session summary: outcomes, the team's own action items and recommendations for further coaching, within ten business days.
  • Design and present the yearly webinars.

Facilitator and Coach (two positions)

  • Co-facilitate the session on site with the Lead Facilitator.
  • Give direct feedback on the behaviors that limit a team, and run live assignments with follow-through.
  • Coach one-to-one conversations between team members where a conflict is holding the team back.
  • Administer the assessment profiles the session uses.

What you need

  • At least five years of documented professional experience in team building, leadership facilitation or organizational development.
  • An active, industry-recognized certification in a coaching framework: Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, Insights Discovery licensed practitioner, an ICF credential (ACC, PCC or MCC), or an equivalent.
  • Experience facilitating in person for intact teams.
  • Ability to travel to the six states for one or two days at a time.
  • A resume of no more than two pages that shows the experience and the certification.

Nice to have

  • Facilitation for a federal or state agency, or for a utility.
  • Both a coaching credential and an assessment certification.
  • A home base in or near Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Montana, Wyoming or Northern California.

This employer is a Government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans' Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974, as amended by the Jobs for Veterans Act of 2002, 38 U.S.C. 4212 (VEVRAA), which requires Government contractors to take affirmative action to employ and advance in employment: (1) disabled veterans; (2) recently separated veterans; (3) active duty wartime or campaign badge veterans; and (4) Armed Forces service medal veterans. These classifications are defined as follows:

  • A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
  • A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.
  • An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.
  • An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Protected veterans may have additional rights under USERRA, the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act. In particular, if you were absent from employment in order to perform service in the uniformed service, you may be entitled to be reemployed by your employer in the position you would have obtained with reasonable certainty if not for the absence due to service.
